Throughout my two-week rotation, I was able to shadow many pharmacists and healthcare professionals learning about the institution-wide use of medications. Some day experiences were: shadowing surgeons/CRNAs during several neurosurgery operations, a day with the Cath Lab team, time with the Mitchell Cancer Institute pharmacy staff, and TPN/IV preparations.
During my two-week experience I was able to provide customers free blood pressure screenings with hypertension management advice, vaccination screenings, recommendations and administration of vaccines. Inside the pharmacy I was able to learn about management of staff, budgets and inventory while also participating in the role of the pharmacist under supervision.
